The entire first third of the book is devoted to an attempt to resurrect and re-define the word "liberal", to mean whatever it is that ??????????? wants it to mean. He wants to resurrect the 19th century definition of the term where it is useful to him, while at the same time declaring that Progressive Leftist Liberalism has "won'. it's interesting, because if such an attempt is made re: the concept of "liberalism", to me - my first guess would be - there is a real underlying (deep) concern about where the society and polity of the USA is heading. We know though from P.K.'s thought and his Weberian ideal-typical macro-historical schema (societas civilis (feudalism) - oligarchic bourgeois liberalism* - mass democracy), that notwithstanding the ideological and polemical (multi-definitional) continuation of the concept of "liberalism", the reality "on the ground" is that not only is oligarchic bourgeois liberalism very far behind us, Western mass democracy itself is around 60 to 100 years old, and is entering into an age when it appears to be in a deepening on-going crisis - particularly if Further Severe Blows Fall Upon the West from Further Out-of-Control Ape-Anomie Invasions to Geopolitical "BIG FUCK-YOU"s"!" either from Russia and or China and or ??? - if they come about - because they may not. It is very interesting that in all his written work, P.K. is - apart from being absolutely as precise as possible - always polite and a Gentleman to a fault, and only once in about five or six thousand pages referred to a human in general (and not a specific person) - on completely justifiable grounds and not flippantly - as "an idiot". In fact, in a very unfortunate exchange in a "leading" Greek newspaper (which once upon a time used to contain some interesting material), with an experienced but FULLY RETARDED JOURNALIST-IDEOLOGUE and mouthpiece of (Zio-)American/Germano-Franco propaganda - which personally I think was P.K.'s "lowest point" and he should not have engaged at all with that particular Cretin who is now dead like P.K., ὁ Θεὸς νὰ τοῦς συγχωρέσῃ - P.K. emphasised that name-calling and inappropriate language were not part of a serious discussion of ideas. And that is absolutely correct. So the performance of the private economy does not constitute – in other words – a private issue, but a public and highly political matter of concern – and it became that under the pressure of the anti-liberal demand for the material interpretation of the equality principle."

Accordingly, a liberal and parliamentary Germany would most likely have been exposed to the same geopolitical and foreign policy temptations and difficulties as a "semi-feudal" or "militaristic" Germany. Moreover, Social Darwinistic, racist and related ideas belonged in many cases to the thoughts world (i.e. ideology) of the liberals before 1914. Only a gross ignorance of the English and the French history of ideas allows the conclusion that these ideas originally came into being in Germany or throve best on German soil. Of course, these ideas in Germany were eventually connected in the end with the offence of genocide, which however was the result of the concrete decisions of concrete people and not the outcome of an unavoidable historical necessity in this ideological packaging."

However, under the conditions of the "economic miracle" and of growing affluence, the negative "special way" theory turned not merely into a widespread article of faith, but over and above that it was connected with an admission of guilt to those crimes which were supposed to have inevitably resulted from the "special way"."

The "one-off crimes" were in fact punished in a truly one-off way: a people made up of criminals was allowed to export, consume and travel to an increasing extent, but it was not allowed to possess for instance atomic weapons or bear world-political responsibility. That is, next to material well-being, a far-reaching political carefreeness was also secured for this people made up of criminals. In any case, the purely moral aspect is not, as is known, sufficient in order to bring into being and keep alive ideologem(e)s (i.e. kinds of sub-ideology) supporting a state. For that social conditions are also and above all called for, with which collective morals (i.e. ethics) can be maintained. Precisely this was achieved through the linking of the collective admission of guilt and collective affluence. Whoever embodies this mechanism must of course deny its existence, because such mechanisms can only function when they, through their effect, precisely confirm the ideal self-understanding of actors. ..."


"The theoretical idealisation of politically lukewarm affluence by means of the dichotomy of economy and politics likewise constitutes an ethereal construction which has little to do with the downsides of the life of nations. The intention was, at the same time, emancipatory, however the tangible result was that mental-spiritual stances were formed and reinforced which support and interweave with the functioning of a mass-producing and mass-consuming mass democracy.
